What should I use to restore yellowed lithograph to white?

Sad house

This is a 1950s Keystone of Boston house, one of only two I have seen turn this icky yellow-beige color. Do you have any suggestions on what I could try to remove the yellowing? The roof, by the way, is supposed to be pink and blue--it has yellowed too. Any help appreciated!

Would you consider paint? When rooms that are white turn color we paint. Other than that washing it delicately may be a solution too. Then you could ask people in your neighborhood who restore furniture what they would do. Thanks for your contribution and the picture.

Two questions

by Holly
(Illinois)

I have submitted two photos below. My first question is what are the ornamental things on both ends of the peak of the roof?

My second question is about the flooring. They look like old linoleum tiles. The squares are about 4 1/2 inches. In some places, the tiles are cracked or no longer glued down. Is there any reason to think the tiles could be asbestos? I was told this dollhouse is from the 1920’s. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you. Holly

Odd embellishments on each end of dollhouse roof.

I won my dollhouse on an auction site. There was very little information except that it is folk art from the 1920’s. In the picture, there is an embellishment above the chimney. (This photo turned on it’s side. I don’t know why.). There are two of these—one on each end of the roof. Does anyone know what these are? Any information would be appreciated. Thank you.

Is there a glue that will hold accessories to a table, but not be permanent?

I do not want to leave marks on furniture-would rubber cement hold a book or candlestick without leaving residue?

You may be able to use tacky putty for pictures. Look for it on Amazon. It says it is removable / reusable. It holds things like posters on walls. Maybe as well someone else has more ideas. Thanks for your contribution.

Seeking these particular dollhouse cupboards, seen in these pictures. I figured these would be easily available online, but no dice!

Menu Dispenser

The unit I photographed served as a menu dispenser outside a restaurant that is now gone. I want to build a similar unit, expanding upon it so i can place miniature buildings and old Matchbox cars on it. Have these models been discontinued? Thanks all. Dave

New Home for Dollmaking Supplies

by Virginia Ratliff
(Candler NC)

I'm trying to help an elderly cousin find someone to whom she can donate her doll making supplies, equipment, etc. It's time for her to give it up and downsize. She is in Newport TN.

Lois replied:

I can understand perfectly when we have to downsize. Downsizing though seems like the ideal dollhouse term. That's what we do with most of them. We actually hope to get smaller.

But anyone wishing to contact Virginia Ratliff will have to leave her a message on my site. Unfortunately she never left any particulars regarding these dollhouse supplies.

That's one thing about these forms. Unless you give your info do not simply assume I will be able to pass along your ideas. They do not get deposited to me unless they are purposely planned and given to me.

That's just another great thing about SBI and my website. We both strive to protect your privacy. It makes it both comfortable for you and me. I like that and so should you. It's really a help to all concerned who visit me everyday.

Like I said however if you wish to leave Virginia Ratliff a message just click on the "Click here to post comments" link and fill in the form provided. And Virginia if I were you I would bookmark this page concerning your request and check for a reply.

And other than that that is all I can do at this time. Do feel free though to come back and list whatever other details you want someone to know about. Using the above mentioned link you can list an address to contact your friend by.

All my best to you Virginia,
Lois
